PLG-TV has an opening for a multi-media journalist. This multi-media position will be responsible for the daily gathering, reporting and delivery of the PLG-TV newscast while contributing to both online and print products of The Kentucky Standard. The PLG-TV operation consists of a leased local origination channel from The City of Bardstown and insertion of local advertising on 16 major cable networks. The PLG cable channel 13 airs all local content including a nightly news cast Monday through Friday, sports shows, and Tightrope classifieds, page ads and video advertising. • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related field.

• A minimum of two years of broadcast experience.

• Strong skills in reporting, writing, researching, interviewing, shooting video footage and video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro preferred.

• Good news judgment with a sense of timely reporting.

• Good organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to work well in a team environment.

• Knowledge and interest in the Internet and social media.

• Must have a reliable transportation to travel to assignments, valid drivers' license and proof of a vehicle insurance

Essential Functions:
• Daily hands on multi- media reporting, writing, shooting video footage and photographs for television, online and print.

• Anchoring nightly news broadcast Monday through Friday.

• Plan and write nightly news script to include all segments of newscast.

• Continuous timely updating of PLG-TV Tightrope news and information.

• Coordinate news coverage with The Kentucky Standard newspaper staff to include utilizing news budget and attending Wednesday news meeting.

• Monitor breaking news and plan timely coverage of events/meetings throughout the week and weekends.

• Develop interview segments and programming appealing to communitys interest.

• Assure accuracy and objectivity in all news reporting.

• Active involvement in the community representing the company while building key source contacts.

Schedule: Hourly position, Monday - Friday, 40 to 45 hours per week. Variable days and hours including some night time meetings and weekend work.
