The Kentucky Standard, a tri-weekly newspaper located in Bardstown, KY, has an immediate opening for a hands-on Advertising Manager. This position will be responsible for developing and successfully implementing immediate, short-term and long term strategies to accelerate the revenue and profit growth of our print and online products and services. The position also requires actively selling and growing an established personal local and national account base. We are located in Nelson County, KY, the heart of the Bluegrass State just 35 minutes south of Louisville and 60 minutes west from Lexington. Bardstown, the county seat, has been named "Most Beautiful Small Town in America" and is the Bourbon Capital of the World. The Kentucky Standard publishes Sunday, Wednesday and Friday with 8,000 circulation and can be found at www.kystandard.com. Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing or related field or the equivalent in direct work history experience.
  • Minimum of five years of sales experience with proven results.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong customer needs-based selling skills and the ability to coach and train others on those skills.
  • Good organizational, analytical and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to make sales calls.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, coach and lead advertising sales team to meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue budgets.
  • Grow own established personal active account base with daily hands-on sales.
  • Identify and capture new profitable revenue sources that exist in local and regional LCNI Kentucky markets.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly actual sales and forecasting reports on market trends and segment changes while comparing data to previous year and budget.
  • Active involvement in the community representing the company while building key business relationships.
  • Prepare annual revenue budgets and develop rate strategies.
  • Oversee the daily functions of the advertising teams to exceed internal and external customer expectations by establishing streamlined processes.
  • Participate as a member of the senior leadership team.
