The State Journal, a six-day daily newspaper in Kentucky's capital city, is looking for a reporter to cover local education.

The position would primarily be responsible for covering Franklin County Schools, Frankfort Independent Schools and Kentucky State University. The reporter would also take photos to accompany stories, cover general assignments and contribute to our monthly community magazine called FRANK.

While not a primary focus of the beat, there's also an opportunity to write about statewide education issues.

Reporters at The State Journal work rotating weekend duty and enterprise story schedules. The education reporter is also asked to write a weekly "education spotlight" story, which could be a profile of a student or teacher or another feature-type topic.

Page design skills are a plus.

Those interested should email Managing Editor Josh Bergeron at with a resume and 3-5 clips.
